Dr. Cortjens

A lifelong native of GA, Dr. Cortjens graduated from Georgia State University in 2006 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Exercise Science where she was a member of the school’s Division 1 softball team as a center fielder.  After graduating from GA State and working as a fitness professional for 2 years, she continued to have a passion for the betterment of athletes, and graduated from Life University in 2012 with a Doctorate of Chiropractic degree.

Furthering her postgraduate education, she sought advancement in the field and became a Certified Chiropractic Sports Practitioner (CCSP) through the American Chiropractic Board of Sports Physicians, and also completed training in Active Release Techniques, Fascial Distortion Model, Graston, Rock Tape, and many others to properly address issues that athletes commonly display.  As an athlete herself, Dr. Cortjens knows what it takes to compete, giving her a unique perspective on the struggles athletes face to overcome injury and return to competition.

Seeking to become even more versatile, Dr. Cortjens became a CrossFit Level 1 trainer and a CrossFit Endurance (Power Speed Endurance) trainer, with which she developed unique programming related to endurance sports and now trains athletes to compete at their potential without overstressing the body as traditional methods do.

Dr. Cortjens is an avid Ultrarunner and utilizes this training herself to compete in events that last anywhere from 6-100 hours long.  She has dealt with minimal injuries since changing over to this programming, reinforcing the efficacy of this training method while also allowing her time for a professional career and time with her family.
